Definitely not interested in BIGLAW. Probably politics and he is worried that going to Harvard would hurt his street cred in GOP primaries.

Working on a political campaign seems like a much better idea than law school for this guy.

He already has major pull in his state's (hint: not Arizona or really near Arizona) GOP Party and he is thinks voters will see a JD as a proxy for his credentials.

ASU seems poor since it's he's not near AZ. If he goes to HLS... how is he gonna pay back that debt in politics?

His parent's took out a new mortgage to pay for his school, so money is no option.

This seems like a flame thread. Surely an applicant with the ability to go to Harvard (albeit sticker) and get into AZ. St. with "$$$$" and a hefty stipend could certainly get into a top-20 (even T14) with "$$$".

...and I just fed the troll...damnit!

Pretty sure the grammar/vocab errors are on purpose (e.g., "parent's").

This thread is very constructive.

Relocating to Arizona for GOP politics is not a bad idea. Actually it could be a very good idea. In terms of which school should your friend choose I can't help you but I would recommend to check this out:

http://education.yahoo.net/articles/deg ... idates.htm
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Ha ... ool_alumni
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Ha ... ity_people

As you can see a variety of candidates have Harvard degrees of sort. Tell you friend best of luck. It could be good for networking.

Thanks, but he isn't from Arizona and has no intention of living there.

Sounds like a flame, but Harvard. That's where he can make connections to help him down the road.

Well, since ASU is clearly a school on the rise and Harvard is trending down I'd say your friend should go to ASU. By the time they graduate Harvard will be the next BU and ASU will be so high Chicago students won't even troll it

Go with ASU. Harvard is a TTT in decline and ASU is a rising star. Should be T14 in no time.

You know how I know this is a flame? ASU doesn't give out full rides plus stipends, and they especially don't give them out to out-of-staters. Nice try.
