I would argue that an 0L giving advice on Widener's quality is a flame.

ps: Wasn't Widener Harrisburg's first time bar passage rate 94.somthing%, significantly higher than many of the "top tier" PA, NJ and NY law schools?

What's the point of passing the bar if you can't get meaningful legal employment?

There is a huge Widener presence in NE Pennsylvania and, weirdly, it has a fair amoun of lay prestige around here. Many of the judges around here are Widener grads and a lot are fairly successful. I certainly wouldn't tell anyone to go there now, though. They've had these jobs well before the economy shit the bed.

And the Vice President of the United States of America came out of Syracuse...but you don't see people flocking there either.

With the right combination of smarts, personality, and a lot of luck, you can succeed out of any law school. However, at a school like Widener, every success story is offset by two or three or four stories of failure. Think of this law school as a game of Russian Roulette; only in this case, five of the six chambers are loaded with bullets. Are you willing to play?

This is a hilariously over-dramatic analogy, but I agree with the premise.

I know a guy who won the lottery once. Does that mean I should expect to win if I play too?

Im pretty sure the Vice President occasionally teaches at Widener as an adjunct...and his son is an alumni lol. But hey I get your premise and love the psychotic and over the top russian roulette analogy.

btw....GO SYRACUSE IN MARCH!

Listen, in all seriousness, if you can keep your debt down and don't possess the dysfunctional personality that is endemic among law students, you'll probably do alright out of Widener. However, you should think long and hard about the decision to attend and be prepared to accept the consequences that could ensue. You're an adult now.

In-state sticker? I'm not sure I like either option, honestly. The problem with Widener's scholarships is that (1) they section-stack and (2) they have awful stipulations on top of that.

Is a retake out of the question?

I'd take the free JD. My brother paid sticker at Widener and is working at a great firm making great money.
