Newark or Camden (NY vs PA)

For those who are familiar with both PA and NY legal markets (Philly V NYC in specific)
which school would you choose to attend?

1. Price is not a factor (so don't say "go to the cheaper one etc")
2. Neither is location- I don't have a preference (so don't be like "go where you want to practice)

I just want to know which legal market will have better opportunities in the next few years.
Given that Philly is a secondary market, whereas NY is ridiculously saturated.

Thank you

If you want Philly go to Temple or Nova
If you want NYC don't go anywhere below Fordham

Only go to Rutgers if you want Jersey

Added a poll.
Only interested in these two schools.

Okay maybe Temple>Camden in PA. (but with very little difference).
But really I don't think the difference is significant enough to choose one over the other, barring financial conditions.
Especially Nova....

If you answer this one question correctly, I'll PM you and help you out:
Are you from NJ?

I'd be too scared of the possibility of the Rutgers-Camden Law-->Rowan Law change to put down money there right now. That wouldn't help employment possibilities one bit.

I agree with you. Which is why this is a rather conflicting choice.

The name change won't take effect any time soon and even if it does, nobody is going to say they went to Camden. It will always be known as RU camden

I see this as pretty common response to people asking about RU, and I really find it hard to get a straight answer on the school. Is there NJ Big Law? For someone who is in-state, cool with living here, and could go possibly to RU-Newark for free, is it really that bad? I'd imagine paying sticker at a T-14 would obviously be better for most people, I was just curious about the existence of (actual existence of available jobs rather) in NJ Big Law. Or is the idea more that coming out with 0 debt, you don't HAVE to work Big Law.

If you want the run down on NJ BigLaw, PM me.

This is the truth. Have any of you ever been to Camden? I lived in NJ and I would never go to school anywhere near there.

I lived there for a year. It really wasn't that bad.

Bless your soul lol. It's really not that bad, I'll be honest, but I'd never live there. I grew up in Newark, so I'm totally biased against South Jersey.

just sayin

EDIT: OP, you could totally live in Camden and never have any problems. It's like any city, there are just parts you avoid.

Nah, I'm from North Jersey too, so I get where your coming from (and yea the crime rate is terrible, so you have to know where to avoid). But living in South Jersey, even for only a short time, definitely changed my perception of it a lot.

I voted Camden because its ability to place in Philly is stronger than Newark's ability to place in NYC. It would be quite unwise to attend Newark with the hope of practicing in NYC. Either way, both schools are very strong in NJ. (I didn't attend either, but I seriously considered attending both (e.g., visited, researched extensively, etc.)

Neither if you don't want to work in NJ.

I'll just say that OP meets the "if you're not going to a T14 what you should do" criteria.
