Cornell or Georgetown for Biglaw

Hi everyone, I am trying to decide between Cornell or Georgetown and I want the best opportunity for biglaw. Cornell has the most grads going to biglaw, but gulc boasts the most partners. Is one school better than the other when it comes to this issue? I would also be more interested in working in new york. Thanks.

Cornell. Easily. Unless there's $$ at Gtown.... or you're just dying to give the old in out in out to Rick Santorum

Most biglaw jobs are in NYC; Cornell is a small law school that places big in NYC.

Partner placement really doesn't matter because 1) there's too little data for any results be statistically significant, and 2) becoming partner is a function of how you perform as an associate in biglaw. 0L opinion here, but I doubt someone from HYS would make partner over someone from a even T20 if the T20 grad is performing better. Basically, if your decision is between these two, and you want biglaw, go to Cornell (especially if you prefer NYC).

Cool thanks, this is what I've been thinking, just wanted some other opinions. Does the fact that Cornell is ivyleague make a difference?

PM me if you have any questions about Cornell and placing into NYC BigLaw. (2L, NYC-bound).

Whoever voted Georgetown is a troll.

I am sure that there are reasons to choose GT over Cornell, but if you are just trying to make 160K out of the box, Cornell gives you the better shot. To repeat what others have said, I wouldn't read too much into the partnership numbers; it doesn't matter that Cornell is Ivy League.

Your making a mistake in your final sentence. Cornell sends a higher percentage of students into BigLaw, but, undoubtedly, GULC has more partners because their class sizes are huge. That does not mean that your chances of making partner out of Cornell are worse than those same chances coming from GULC.

there should be a few threads on this. I had to make this decision last year. Small school just seems better than big school. I'd also probably take Ithaca over DC but I think to many people that makes me weird. (i've only ever lived in large cities so its not like I'm a small town guy)
