where would u guys go?

my goals: just to get the best paying job possible.

i guess that means big law previously. I just want a good career path down the road. at this point in time i am looking for my goal to be private firms.

i would PREFER to be in the east coast (DC, NYC, maybe northern va)

rather than the mid east (except maybe chicago?)

however if i can get a good chance to boost my career path it isnt really a big deal either way.

i dont know about money offers because i havent received the big packets yet.

any advice
?

Assuming costs are the same:

East coast? GW.
Midwest? WUSTL.

what about for overseas (Asia) prestige?

u know they love their brand names there. they LOVE ivy leagues. does anyone think GW (which...sounds much more similar to Georgetown than any other school) will have a one up in terms of "name" or does it not matter that much?

i also got into W&M for a scholar ship ( i think $10,000 a year...would that be worthy of consideration?

You shouldn't go to GW/WUSTL (heck pretty much any American law school) if you want to work outside the US.

You don't have scholarship offers yet, it's way too premature to figure this out. Come back when you actually know how much these schools are going to cost.

William & Mary with a partial scholarship is the best choice, in my opinion, since you want East Coast & NLJ250 placement is quite close to that of WashUStL. Also, apply for their fellowships since that adds about $14,000 a year scholarship for 96 hours of research/library work = over $140 an hour.

P.S. Are you a Virginia resident ? If not, is it easy to get for your second & third years ?

Like the other poster said you prob shouldn't bank on working oversees after going to an American school but GW actually does have a high level of prestige in Asia, esp. Korea and China.

Prob most people in Asia haven't heard of WUSTL and even in this country most people don't really know it. A lot of people I know associate WUSTL with science/engineering more than its law school.

WUSTL is an absolutely lovely school, but people (mostly east coasters) will probably assume you go to GW if you go to WUSTL anyway. They tune out after they hear the "Washington," per my experience in UG. So if you care about name, WUSTL's not really the place to go.

But, knowing that you're in DC, when they hear "George" they tune out to the rest and think "Georgetown." I too have this from experience.

Heard WashU has decent placement in Jordan and Syria, but I'd go to GW if I you are looking for BIGARABIANPENINSULALAW. If you're interested in Iraq, retake for T14. Kirkuk to $35k!
