I wasn't sure where the right place for this was, but figured since it was about making your decision once you've been accepted, this was the correct place. If not, I apologize mods.
Can we all make a pact to withdraw the second we know we won't attend a school? I know some of us have already been accepted to multiple schools and already know we will not be attending one or more of them. If you already know you're not going to go to a school, please, please please go ahead and withdraw!
If we all pledge to do this, it could help things move along for everyone.

Withdrawing is the right thing to do, but it isn't really going to make a difference. The schools use a projected yield rate.

This. It won't make a difference until they start pulling off waitlists.

Just FYI, withdrawing once you know you won't attend a certain school might not be the best idea. Even though you know you won't attend, schools don't know that and you can use schollys from schools you've been accepted (including ones you won't attend) as leverage to get more money from the school you want

+1
Some people actually apply to schools that are peers of their target even though they know that they don't want to attend them. For instance, I want to go to Iowa. In order to get more scholly money I
could apply to MN, WI, IL, IN, etc, (all close to peer schools +/- a little, and all in the region) and say something like "I'd love to stay in state, but IL offered me way more in scholarship money (assuming IL doesn't tank in the rankings, which would be a miracle IMO)." Then hopefully Iowa would increase their offer if they really wanted me.
ETA: this is espescially prevalent with fee waivers. $16 could be worth $10k.

This is a stupid idea, for all the reasons previously mentioned. 1) It won't matter and 2) it is strategically stupid.

Completely unrelated to the matter at hand, but I think that Gin's avatar very succinctly captured all that was beautiful about 90's television.
Thank you.
