I'd rather go to UCLA too if the money was equal, but that's too much to ignore IMO.

USC.

Easy-peasy. Peer schools (or almost peer), one of which offers serious money. Pretty straightforward.

I feel that the debt your looking at coming out of UCLA won't be 125k because tuition--both at the undergraduate and professional school level--has been sky rocketing out of control each of the past five years. The UC system is just shaky right now and its law schools are not immune from this turbulence.

UCLA should be on Average 42k a year

is saving 55k worth not having the ucla degree/prestige as well as all the comforts of westwood.

(Obviously depending on your financial situation and career goals) USC. You could live in Westwood and commute if you really wanted to.

This.

Edit- why has OP made 3 topics on the front page on this topic, some from 2010?

I know it looks bad... (and/or funny)

The first one from way back in 2010 was just my curiosity... (that i completely forgot that I made till i searched ucla vs usc last night)

The 2nd one was before I was offered any $

this last one is my actual position (I was responding to those threads and it bumped them)

None stated (and they typically don't have any except to be in good standing)

UCLA's reputation is only marginally better than USC's, and USC's alum network will make up for that in SoCal. If you want to practice in SoCal, definitely go to USC. That's some serious money. If you want to practice outside of SoCal, neither are good options.

It is such a hard decision for me. UCLA has been my #1 all year long - but 55k+ makes it so hard to justify attending. USC being my #2 all year before they rejected me then admitted me ><

if UCLA could come close to matching my life becomes easier..if not I may have to start wearing the red and gold... (those are the colors, right?)

UCLA will give you a much better education, a better place to live and spend much of your time (Westwood) and will set you up for better job prospects. The Trojan network is vastly overrated based on the experience of friends and is often used by USC people to hype up the school. The reality is that the UCLA network is larger and are equally dedicated to helping out alums. Simply look at the major firms in LA and you will see a clear advantage. Also a UCLA degree will you give more options wherever you end up and in any area of practice. Better job prospects and the lay pretige will be worth the additional money on tuition. In fact UCLA is covering the increase in tuition for all incoming UCLA Law students this year and is expected to do so in the future as well. THe school has a very large and growing endowment independent of the rest of the school.

I would choose UCLA. Much better neighborhood & , in my view, more prestigious. But, it is a close call & may depend on your personal preferences & tolerance for an additional $56,000 of debt.

Yeah, the colors are cardinal n'gold. Have you tried negotiating with UCLA?

Ya, no luck. Maybe if it was another school that offered the $$....
