Top Law Schools

I have a deferred admission to NU for fall of 2012, a school I really like in a city I so far like. However, due to the GI Bill, UVA should be much, much cheaper. I applied last cycle (RD) and was waitlisted. I withdrew, since you can't defer WL/Accepts.

Is it worth my time, and is it scummy to ED to UVA?

3.9 GPA
Good WE and softs.
Wants biglaw as long as possible in either Chi, NYC, or Pacific NW.
Only interested in clerkships if they help in either of the two-above career goals.
Some interest in non-criminal government work.

You probably should have deferred one of the "f's" from the post title.

I would call and talk to the NU admissions office about withdrawing your deferral due to financial reasons to see if they are okay with you doing that and applying to other schools next cycle. If they are okay with it, I don't see anything wrong with it.

Is it worth it if NU is okay with it? I would say definitely yes if the cost is that huge. Especially since you can do consecutive ED's to UVa and then UMich (I'm assuming the GI Bill covers any state school) to double your chances if UVa doesn't admit you via ED.

Agree with bk above. You need to make sure NU will allow you to opt out of your committment to them and reapply this fall, but I've heard of this being done before so it probably shouldn't be a huge deal.
