I'm reviving my old thread with a new question. I'm getting mixed responses on the right move to make.
Gtown came a calling and offered $35K/year. Really surprised me. Looking at around $100K debt.
I had withdrawn from WUSTL w/ $40K/year, and NW @ sticker and was planning to reapply.
My June retake was a 174. Also have a 167 and 168 on record. GPA is 3.79.
One year WE now. Decent job, but not really getting any worthwhile experience at this point. Not a lot of connections that will be useful for a legal career. Ultimately I think PI type work is where I'd like to end up.

All comments from above this are related to my old question, so you can ignore them.
Trying to help people save time.

ITE, no harm comes from waiting a year for the market to get better. It seems like a win-win situation:
- you wait the recovery out one more year for most likely better hiring prospects
- you gain an extra year of WE to make you a more desirable applicant (both job-wise and school-wise)
- you get to reapply with better numbers and most likely in a slightly easier cycle
- if you didn't already, you can apply day one and get your apps in immediately for better overall chances.
i don't see a downside...unless you're already like 26 or something. then I might want to hustle...

is deposit at one of NW/Vandy, wait for scores and consider reapplying an option or do they bind you to attend in any way?

I'll add it to the poll

it kind of is a given if you choose the NW or Vandy...of course you'll wait for scores and consider reapplying if you rocked it, I just meant are either of their offers binding in any way?

I don't see anything to that effect.
And you're right it is a given if I would go w/ Vandy or NW. I stopped thinking logically post LSAT.
Vandy said no potential scholarship increase with June LSAT.
Don't know about Northwestern yet.

Take Vandy out of the picture. It's the worst of both worlds.
This decision should be between NW and Wash U. How much is better placement and location worth to you? Are you ok depending on LRAP to pay back loans? If you end up rocking June you should reapply if you think you will do better

@sane- What do you mean by next year being an easier cycle?

Merely conjecture, but the significant amount of waitlist movement this year to me means that medians will not rise for the first time in a while, and may in fact even fall slightly in some places. Applications are down, and I expect this to continue (unless we do indeed fall into a double-dip recession between now and September). What was waitlist movement this year will be acceptances next year, and then if applications fall again then there will be more waitlist movement again. I've said this in other threads, but it has been said that this 'swelling' of medians happens from time to time as applications rise (it happened in the early 2000's before medians fell again), so I see no reason why this wouldn't be the case here.
Also though, just being an optimist.

OIC. Cool though, since I'm reapplying next year

If mobility is really important to you, NU is the way to go. (Also, I just finished 1L at NU, so if you have any questions about the school I can try to answer them.)

Understandable, but I think it was the right move.

Just popping in to say that I think waiting for your LSAT and reapplying next cycle is the best option. Your stats are great right now and have the potential to increase with the June LSAT. What made me post this most of all was that I see from your profile that you applied super late to at least a lot of your schools (mid-late February) and I think that's what hurt you the most. If you apply very early next cycle, I think you'll have much better luck, even if your LSAT score doesn't improve. That being said, I hope it does and I wish you good luck!

I agree with the poster above me. Just looking at your profile, it appears that you applied very late. Even without a better LSAT score, applying early next cycle will probably net you more acceptances and fewer waitlists than you received this cycle. In my opinion, waiting until next cycle and sending in early applications is your best bet.

Since you already have a job, I would certainly reapply. Use this year to save money for living expenses. That's a great scholarship from Georgetown, but with an early application next cycle you could be getting money from CCN on down. Unless you MUST go to law school this year (which it seems is not the case), reapply and have a great second cycle. Congrats on the retake!

Dany's advice is TCR. Georgetown will offer you that same scholly (and maybe even more) next cycle, and you will likely get some good money from MVPDNB as well as CCN. Apply early, save some money and you'll be happy you did.

Poll is favoring reapply, which is what I'm leaning toward.
Just wondering if anyone has a compelling argument for Georgetown, besides not wasting a year of my life (which is the main reason I'm considering it).
