SLU v Drake v Indiana Bloomington

Having been left reeling after a rejection from Illinois Law, I am now trying to make a decision on where to attend law school next fall. Keep in mind that I would like to practice law in Central Illinois and will have to finance all of my expenses through loans. My options are SLU with a full-tuition scholarship, Drake with full-tuition plus $10,000 per year for living expenses, or Indiana at $15,000 a year. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

I'm looking to practice in either peoria or Bloomington/Normal. My primary question is if UI B is worth the extra 110K in debt if I am planning on practicing in one of these smaller markets. 165/3.9

145k (including 3 yrs of COL) at IU: B seems like a lot for a school that seems to have difficulty placing relative to its ranking. also, given their large scholarships, they tend to (at least this year) have attracted students with better #'s than schools ranked around it meaning the competition would be a tad more intense. Given OP's goals, I would think that Notre Dame would be nearly as good as going to Illinois. I would also imagine that a 165 3.9 would be gold there.

also, a 170 would be a full ride, and a 166 or 167 would be 120k. I think it's definitely worth waiting a year for the legal economy to get better, and saving 75k to retake the test.

There had to have been something wrong with your application if you got straight rejected as a 165/3.9.

IU would be ok, but Illinois or ND would be better. With a 3.9, no reason not to retake.

Even if you don't want to retake, which you should if you feel that you did not do your best, you should still wait and apply first day of next cycle. If you do it that early you will be looking at money from UIUC and IUB. LSAT is meh for them, but that GPA will do alot for you...and who wants to live in Iowa
