Re: Rutgers (good $$) vs. Fordham Sticker

You have no business going $230k into debt from Fordham. Midlaw in a large market like NYC is largely a myth. Furthermore, it's not as simple as "doing what it takes" to be in the top of the class. Hard work does NOT necessarily correlate to strong grades. Fordham doesn't really give you what I would call a "good" shot anyway. It's like what now, 30%ish NLJ250? If you MUST have biglaw, you need to retake the LSAT, reapply, and try to get into a T13 school for 50%ish shot at biglaw or greater.

Neither if you wouldn't be happy with anything except NYC big law. Retake. There are plenty of rising 3Ls at Fordham now with no paying job lined up. That would be damn scary while staring down a quarter mil in debt. I don't think Rutgers is a diploma mill, and can be a good choice for some who would be happy with non-biglaw options and little debt, but you clearly wouldn't be into the prospects you are likely to have from there.

If you can't see yourself gambling and taking $200K+ in debt nor working in NJ then you should retake. Can I ask you what your numbers were?

Rutgers is definitely not a diploma mill. Median LSAT is 161, gpa 3.4, those are not degree mill numbers. Just for your information, when they start factoring ROI (return on investment) at the US News Rankings (Cost of Tuition vs Education factors), Rutgers Law will shoot so high up in the rankings it will not be funny. The education for the price at Rutgers really can not be beat. Shame on schools like Fordham making kids pay 200K + for a degree that will not get them the jobs they need to substantiate that crushing burden.
