Is region more important then ranking in this situation?

Post by legaleagle9 » Tue May 17, 2011 9:52 pm

Say someone is set on doing LA Big Law. Would it be smarter for them to go to schools like USC or UCLA, or to a school like Georgetown because it is ranked a little bit higher?

Im sorry if this is a really dumb question.

Without question USC or UCLA. I'm betting that USC/UCLA places as well as or better than MVP in California.

I mean, scholarships should be taken into account, but all other things equal:

USC/UCLA is the right call here, but I do wish people would stop suggesting things like the bolded when it's obvious they're merely speculating. This is TLS - people hear this stuff and begin to recycle it as "fact" far too easily here.

Not a dumb question. Answer is UCLA. GULC's very small advantage in ranking is more than made up for by UCLA's regional prominence.

Not that familiar with USC but the answer's probably the same.

P.S., you also save about 15K on tuition at UCLA if you're in-state, compared to GULC, I believe.
