If it's your only T14 option and you want NYC? Yes or no.

I edited this to note that I technically do have another T14 option -- but it's UT, though with $76,500...

Lol, I'm thinking your first two poll answers came in as "no" largely based on sarcasm (perhaps in part because your screenname includes Cornell).

Yeah, Cornell can definitely be worth sticker. Among other things, Cornell had the second-highest NLJ stats last year overall if I remember correctly. If people are seriously arguing it is categorically not worth sticker, I'd like to know why. Obviously, if you have the option to go a T6 or to Y / H/ S at sticker, or to go to some other T14ish school with money, then it may not be worth it; but if it is where you want to go and it is your best overall option then I think it is a pretty hard sell to argue categorically that it isn't worth it. HTH

Does the pope help pedophiles get away with their crimes?

Assume one was a 1L and looking to transfer from a T30 that places fairly well into NYC, but its not the primary market it places into. Would it be better to finish 1L year around top 10-15% and just try OCI at current T30 and shoot for NYC, or is Cornell THAT much better such that it would be worth it to try and transfer and give up the ranking and possible law review spot at current school? Really want to end up in NYC. Debt from current school given savings and everything else would be about 25K, whereas Cornell would be about 90K. Thoughts?

More likely, they turned down money (or more money) at those schools when they chose the one they're at, and their opinion reflects the actual reasoning they went through, but they fail to generalize properly outside their own decision.

I didn't think it would be, but I have a hard time believing any school but HYS are worth sticker. Yay scholarships.

Back when I was PTing 175s and figured I was a lock at CCN I kept thinking it would be insane to go to anything below T10 at sticker, especially something as expensive as Cornell.

Now that I got my 167, I'm pretty happy with BU at sticker, Cornell at sticker would be even better.

Edit: OP, Cornell is totally worth sticker. It places extremely well; and while a risky, it's still a solid investment.

TBF, if you took an estimated expected value of the law degree from Cornell over a lifetime the 200k+interest would look like not that big of a deal.

The problem is that some students aren't going to meet that expectation, even if a majority will.

Cornell was the first school to get back to me and I have to say, if not for Michigan, I would have taken sticker at Cornell in a heartbeat.

It's expensive, but, especially if you're gunning for NYC biglaw, it's worth it.

This is, indeed, quite an amusing phenomena.

If you're ok with being a doc review slave for years in order to pay off your debt, sure, it will probably get you to that level.

Might not be depending on acceptances to UCLA/Texas/Vandy/USC and the amount of $$ at each. But generally, yes I would go there in a heartbeat.
