Columbia hands down.

If you are really set on DC, I'd take CLS (and no that's not a typo). In fact I think I'd take CLS no matter what here. 90k just does not push down GULC's CoA low enough to make it worthwhile over CLS.

Georgetown is located in DC, yes, but the school doesn't actually perform super well there. The reason is that every around the US wants to practice there. So (1) you don't really need ties and (2) competition is especially fierce from schools all around the nation.

Go Columbia.

I'm confused. First you say DA/biggov and then you say biglaw (and it seems like you have two conflicting plans). If you are doing the latter, I would say that since all of those things are incredibly rare except one, focus on that one (biglaw) and go to the school that offers a significant advantage in that area (CLS).

If your plan is biglaw to pay off debt, go CLS because it places better. It's not as if going to CLS is going to impede you from working DOJ after a few years, and that that point your experience is what will be important.

Unless having a nice gym is REALLY important to you. In that case, go G'town.

ETA: You know who voted for Georgetown in the poll? Someone on the CLS waitlist.

In my thoroughly uneducated 0L opinion, Columbia will probably open more doors than GULC. The difference between those doors is probably worth at least 30-40K.

No, I was talking about both. I know people who have followed such a career trajectory (biglaw, then DA/DOJ later). I have a feeling I eventually want to work in government/criminal fields, but I feel like biglaw for a few years may make the most sense.
Our ideas are similar and I'm going to CLS...we'll be partners in crime (no pun intended).

I think it would take a much bigger gap than $30k to make me choose GULC over CLS. And that's still taking into account that I strongly prefer DC to NYC.

Even with a preference for DC and indifference for NYC, I think CLS' placement is worth more than an extra $30k at GULC.

CLS places better than GULC in any part of the country.

I turned down 120k for about the same offer from Columbia. I'll see you at CLS in August.

p.s. I'm sorry about Wainwright, the WS is going to be much harder to reach now. Hopefully you're staff picks up the slack!
