Why does Princeton Review 2011 rate Cornell so low
Why does Princeton Review rate Cornell's academic category so low. Just got 2011 Best 172 Law Schools and Cornell academics category is rated 63, professor interesting rating is rated a 61 and professor accesible rating is also a 61. What is going on here?

Why does US News rank? Rankings are rankings but I thought someone would know from Cornell. I looked back at a 2007 edition and their rating in the academic cetegory was 83 with a 74 profs interesting rating and an 84 profs accessible rating

As Professor suicide increases, Professor availability decreases.

But you also have to account for student suicides.Cade McNown wrote:As Professor suicide increases, Professor availability decreases.

Maybe students throwing themselves in the gorges because the professors are so boring affects their academic rating.

It is a rating not a ranking.Patriot1208 wrote:Academics category? Wtf does that even rank?

Who is Princeton Review to rank anyone?
Where does Princeton Review rank on tutoring? I do LSAT tutoring, and outsource other tutors, and while my sample size only reflects several 100 former Princeton students, not one of them improved. They rank poorer than Kaplan, Testmasters, all others from my limited sample size.

Look at their ranking methodology. It's probably based on a very small sample size. Or maybe Cornell refused to participate. In any case, Princeton Review is not authoritative in the least on this. They just want money. In fact, perhaps they did some ludicrous rankings so that people like you would purchase their rankings (or as you emphasize "ratings")? You should feel free to disregard their evaluations entirely. It's like Cooley's rankings.

I'm assuming they give them a rating so to rank the schools?Emma1 wrote:It is a rating not a ranking.Patriot1208 wrote:Academics category? Wtf does that even rank?

Re: Why does Princeton Review 2011 rate Cornell so low
In all honesty, I thought of doing law school rankings just to stream traffic to my website to get more clientele, but ultimately decided I was not qualified to rank law schools, and therefore this would be a shady business practice. As someone who worked for some large tutoring companies, I can assure you large tutoring companies have no problems behaving shady. When I left a large tutoring company I worked for to work on my own, this company actually hired or used someone else to post phony reviews attacking personal things about my character that were only removed when i wrote a letter promising legal action directly to the company. So I would hardly be surprised if these companies write poorly researched law school rankings unfortunate idiots rely on.

They dont rank schools. It is the 172 best law schools for 2011. Same setup for the most part as their book for undergrad. It has alot of information about each of the schools including what advanced and combined degrees are offered, statistical information on the student body, admissions, employment and financial stats, and 1 and1/2 page description of each school. The low score for professors at Cornell is unusual. It is suppose to be based on the opinions of law students. Was looking to see what Cornell students thought about this rating.Patriot1208 wrote:I'm assuming they give them a rating so to rank the schools?Emma1 wrote:It is a rating not a ranking.Patriot1208 wrote:Academics category? I'm sure the methodology is somewhere nearby.Emma1 wrote:Why does Princeton Review rate Cornell's academic category so low. But think about it. Which students are more likely to respond to a pointless survey?
1. Students who loved Cornell in general
2. Students who may not have had the experience they wanted
Now if this was an employment survey, it would be the other way around.
