I was just accepted to Tulane off of the waitlist. I don't know very much about it and I have to make my decision by tomorrow. So Tulane at sticker or Villanova with 15k?

What's the difference in cost of living?

where do you want to work and live? both schools are regional and you are talking about 2 different regions. pick one and go there.

The cost difference is about 20,000 per year (with Villanova's scholarship).

If you don't mind cold weather, I'd pick nova

By the way, I'm trying to make a similar decision so I might see you in the fall!

Well, I actually kind of hate cold weather. But $60,000 over three years is a lot. And then there are rankings (Tulane-47 vs Villanova-84) and Villanova's recent scandal... Such a hard choice!

Better yet, where do you live now?

Villanova. Save yourself some money and graduate in a city with a better legal market.

Not really the answer that I expect :D

So, if I gather from your posts correctly, it will be $184K if you attend Tulane and $120 if you attend Villanova.

Villanova is an attractive choice here.

Sure you don't want to hear it but neither one is worth it. I do think Tulane has some more mobility than Nova, and certainly more mobility in the South if you like warmer weather.

Agree. Plus, who knows how the scandal of knowingly lying to the ABA by falsifying GPAs and LSATs might still affect Villanova. Maybe the ABA will do something about it, or maybe not. But why take the risk when other options are available?

Villanova is the lesser of evils. My actual vote would be for retake/reapply.

Yeah, these are not very viable options. What happened to retake/reapply or don't go? Those options should always be on the table.

I've actually never really been part of the don't go crowd. If someone truly truly really really wants to be a lawyer I'm a fan of the going to a TTTT for cheap plan or, if you have to, going to a school and then dropping out after a year if you don't have the grades to make repaying your debt viable.

I should have written "don't go now." ITE, TTTs w/o scholarships are a suicide, but maybe in a few years, as the economy improves, they will become "viable" again.
But if you "truly truly really really wants to be a lawyer", you also need to consider that, by going to a TTT, it is very likely that you will not end up actually lawyering. Latest NALP data indicates 44K JDs/year for 28K JD-requiring positions/year.

All the current and former Tulane students I know advise WAY AGAINST Tulane at sticker. Paying this much for those schools is a terrible idea.
