TLS has me feeling pessimistic about lawl school.
Interested in hearing if people think it would be worth it to go 60K in debt to attend USC. UG debt is 20K, putting my total debt at 80K. Will be staying in LA after graduation.

Sure. USC is still a very good school with a strong alumni network. And $80k isn't THAT much.

+1

Most schools in the T1 that aren't in ridiculously over-saturated market would be worth it at that price.

I'm in a similar situation. Wondering though how a $75K scholly only leaves you $60K in debt. Do you have substantial savings or other financial support to draw on? Living at home?

I'm guessing you'd be living at home? If so, then definitely. Also, I would advise that you slightly overestimate the tuition, since you'll have to factor in increasing tuition and interest. Still, I'd say it's worth it.

As for me, the soul crushing debt makes USC a less viable option, even though I loved my visit and want to go to school in LA. GL2u

1. Do you want to be a lawyer?

2. Do you want to work in CA?

If the answer to both of these questions is yes then 80k debt at USC is an amazing deal. I wouldn't recommend any school other than Stanford at sticker or a T14 with comparable debt over USC at that price.

I am working two jobs now to stack money away for school. Plus I live with my SO, who is ahem-older than I am and established, so I don't have to worry about rent.

Yeah, it almost seems like a no-brainer. <$100k debt at USC is definitely worth it if you want to live and work in Socal.

Unless you got into better schools and would come out with less debt, that is.

edit: redundancies are fun

Without a doubt. It's really not that much debt when you think about it. USC is a great school and places very well in the Los Angeles area.
