Are Wash U/Illinois that much better than Pitt/Temple?

Do you guys think that Wash U and Illinois are really significantly better than schools such as Pitt and Temple? I'm from Pittsburgh and would like to give myself a chance at working in a bigger city like Chicago, New York, D.C, and maybe even Philly. Obviously if I'm dead set on working in Philly I'd take Temple. If I really wanted Pittsburgh I'd take Pitt.
I think that Illinois has a slight advantage in Chicago employment over Wash U (and Wash U has a much more substantial advantage in St. Louis), but it seems like if I want to end up in D.C. or New York, Wash U has the best connections. Do you guys have any thoughts on this? I'm going to visit Wash U and Illinois in two weeks. Thanks.
P.S. I'm STILL waiting on my scholarship offer from Pitt, which is pretty frustrating. So...I've estimated that I'll pay about half which is about $10,000 bc I'm in state.
