I think its really hard to turn down michigan here. Especially since you will have help/stored up money to pay for it. I'd say the lowest you should attend is vandy, and michigan seems to be worth another 50k. You said you dont like the cold though. So I guess if you really prefer you could choose duke, but on balance michigan seems stronger unless you really like duke better. Then id say attend duke.

Michigan is the obvious choice, but it sounds more like you're driven toward the southeast. Given the info, Duke wouldn't be a bad selection by any means.. but if it were me I would choose Michigan in a heartbeat.

If you're shooting for the high risk/high reward options, Duke is the clear choice. Why take Michigan when Duke is better for almost all of the markets you cited and doesn't have the drawback of cold weather? At the same cost, it would be worth visiting both schools and deciding based on personal fit... but unless you fall in love with Michigan, Duke will give you very similar placement into the career fields you specified and better placement into most of the markets (i.e. the south) you specified.
Vandy might also be an option, but I tend to think that Duke is worth $50k more than Vandy. That's more of a personal call, though.
Otherwise, I'd give serious consideration to W&M. It's significantly behind Duke, Michigan, and Vandy in job prospects, but it's a good school at a very low cost. So depending on your debt aversion, this could be a serious option.

Hey, a 1L at Duke here. Average temperature in Feb was like 45-50 degrees. It was amazing. I don't know what it was in Michigan but if you are like me and affected by weather, then you may wanna consider Duke, all other things being equal.
Also, there is a pretty big difference between Duke and Michigan in terms of the physical attributes of the law school building. I found Michigan's law school too formal and old for my preference. You really ought to visit the schools and see for yourself.

I'd narrow it down to Michigan or GW since it seems like with the family help and savings you will be able to shave off 80k or so from the CoA at any school.
Michigan for 100k has the best chance of getting you lofty/prestigious employment, but going to GW for absolutely free isn't bad either.

Not when it is equal cost to Michigan. I'd take Michigan every time without a second thought.

I am gonna play the Blue Devil's advocate here and say you should visit Duke before making your decision.

I actually thought Michigan had a placement advantage over Duke but I went back and looked at the data and I was wrong, they are pretty much the same.
After rereading OP, I'm changing my decision to Duke since it will give an advantage for the secondary southern markets that OP is interested in if DC or FL fall through.
