Hey, has anyone seen any new studies or reports on
attorney job out look? Haven't seen anything newer than 2008. Was wondering if everyone was still preaching gloom and doom and saying all the jobs will be outsourced to china. I'm applying n next year....maybe.
Thanks

China shut down the division that reports employment numbers in 2009. Hence, no new reports.

Great...guess they don't want anyone to know how much of this country is actually controlled from over there.

Lawyer jobs grow at the same rate as the economy in general. That speaks little to the job outlook which is poor and will continue to be poor so long as the number of graduates each year exceeds the number of new openings by 2 to 1 and as long as the number of new grads continues to exponentially outpace economic growth. It doesn't help that 10 new law schools are expected to come online in the next decade either.
Regarding the BCG piece, sounds good if you are any of the following: (1) tech background (2) Mandarin speaker (3) a D.C. partner seeking to lateral (4) an associate with energy experience interested in working in Houston. That leaves out 99% of the legal profession. The midwest market was in an abyss before the recent "gains".
