Srs? I was joking its obvi not flame.TheFactor wrote:Get more creative, OP. This is a pitiful attempt at a flame.
I wouldn't want to go to penn at sticker for nyc biglaw, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't. It just all comes down to first year grades. You willing to gamble?dpk711 wrote:I apologize if it looks like a flame -- but due to past experiences living in the third world I really do want to do something with international human rights (I'm aware this subject is in hot debate in TLS circles). But in terms of biglaw in NY or even LA, is Penn worth it at sticker?
Says the man attending NYU at sticker.I wouldn't want to go to penn at sticker for nyc biglaw, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't. It just all comes down to first year grades. You willing to gamble?
How is someone saying he/she wants to do "international human rights law" 'obvi not a flame'?thecilent wrote:Srs? I was joking its obvi not flame.TheFactor wrote:Get more creative, OP. This is a pitiful attempt at a flame.
Don't median students at Penn still get decent jobs?thecilent wrote:I wouldn't want to go to penn at sticker for nyc biglaw, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't. if roulette was 60/40 i'd play 40 hours a week for the rest of my lifeVeyron wrote:International human rights law is always a flame. Penn will give you 60/40 shot at NLJ 250 in NYC. You play roulette?
Yep.dpk711 wrote:But in terms of biglaw in NY or even LA, is Penn worth it at sticker?
Not at sticker. And it still scares me to go there any pay so much and hope for ny biglaw, but I'll gamble on it.Veyron wrote:International human rights law is always a flame. Penn will give you 60/40 shot at NLJ 250 in NYC. You play roulette?

thank you!Attorney wrote:Yep.dpk711 wrote:But in terms of biglaw in NY or even LA, is Penn worth it at sticker?
I've been putting together Big Law + clerkship stats for the past few years combined (including the highs and lows of the economy). When I'm done, I'll probably post the entire list to TLS. But the big surprises from the T14 area so far are that Georgetown places far worse than the T13, and that Penn places significantly better than NYU.
Obviously that's not true for NY specifically, but if you are willing to do Big Law in Philadelphia, you can't really do better than Penn for Big Law+Article III clerkships. The numbers are T6 worthy.
I've heard rumors to this effect from a 2L b/c of class size. It would be interesting if this was verified.Attorney wrote:Yep.dpk711 wrote:But in terms of biglaw in NY or even LA, is Penn worth it at sticker?

LA and NY are 2 entirely different ballgames. Schools that are worth sticker for LA biglaw include H, Y and S.thecilent wrote:Yeah. It depends on you appetite for risk but thats how I see it.dpk711 wrote:so you're saying it's worth it for NY biglaw but not for LA biglaw?
Im saying its not worth it to go there at sticker thinking you are def getting nyc biglaw (forget about la). If you are open to philly or maybe no biglaw, then you could feel better about attending.dpk711 wrote:so you're saying it's worth it for NY biglaw but not for LA biglaw?
