Is Yale really that good?

Inspired by a similar thread, I'd like to ask whether or not Yale is really that good. What has kept #1 Yale Law #1 for so long? What (and how) are they teaching that other law schools aren't?

Yale has been ranked number one in the country by USNWR in every year in which the magazine has published law school rankings.

To me, that reeks of some pervasive, traditional bias, as well as other foul play. Is Yale really that good, and if so, why?

If troll: Foul play was pushing it a bit hard. Next time try to lowball it.

If not troll: Law firm hiring reeks of pervasive, traditional bias. Get used to it.

The Los Angeles Lakers have won 5 titles in the past ten years while my Dallas Mavericks have won none.

To me, that reeks of some pervasive, traditional bias, as well as other foul play.

They are ranked so high in large part because they spend well over 100K per student each year.

OP is right to suspect foul play. Every year, Yale (i.e., Skull & Bones) kidnaps and holds the families of USNWR staff ransom in Harkness Tower. You wanna be top dog, you gotta play the game.

Is there any team that has won the championship for 24 consecutive years?

And, if continuing w/sport analogy, a #1 ranking doesn't mean you're the best.

Yes, I can look this up, but I'd rather introduce the question here....

Re: Law firm hiring... has Yale outperformed every other school for the past 24 years in % of grads employed within 9 months post JD?

Look at this like the NCAA tournament. Yale is a #1 seed. You are UCLA, a #16 seed. If UCLA beats Yale, Yale is still #1, UCLA is #16, but UCLA won. Consider a win is you getting the prestigious dream job you want over a Yale graduate. You won because you were one person (like UCLA's one win over Yale), but Yale is still #1 because they performed better throughout the season (more of their graduates got their dream jobs than UCLA's grads). Get it?

I think only a troll interprets a thread only for it's potential as a troll, thereby becomming disappointed when it doesn't live up to what you had in mind.

TL;DR - this wasn't a troll

No... does this mean I should be basing where I go to school on this NCAA tournament?

Posts break down into two main categories: trolling or idiotic. I gave you the benefit of the doubt here but it turns out you were just stupid.

I was just trying to make an analogy with his logic. If the NCAA tournament had Yale as a #1 seed, I would say definitely find another way to pick, because 1) Yale should not be a #1 seed in NCAA division 1 men's basketball and 2) You see how well the #1 seeds performed in this year's tournament.

I don't necessarily agree with his logic or my analogy, that was just my best attempt at creating an analogy using his reasoning.
