Top Law Schools

Here are my choices so far. Not so great, but I’m still waiting to hear from my reaches and if I don't get in to any of them I need to start making some decisions. I can’t retake, so I’m stuck with my numbers.

I don’t really know where I will end up living/working, but will likely want to settle somewhere in the west, like Washington, Oregon, California or Arizona. Please consider the markets in each of these areas as well as the likelihood of schools placing outside of their respective regions. Thanks in advance everyone!

I am listing each school with its total COA.

U of Utah: $80k w/out stipulations
Case Western: $75k w/stipulations (3.15 GPA to retain full scholarship, 2.8 for 1/2)
Seattle U: $84k w/stipulations (Top 25%)
Lewis & Clark: $105k w/out stipulations
Santa Clara: $90k w/stipulations (Top 25%)

What are the santa clara stipulations?

You need to list the stipulations...

Stipulations and the ranking of your preferences for the different parts of the west considering these are very different places even if they are all very close to the Pacific.

I would seriously not consider the two that have the top 25% stipulation... that's ridiculous. It would come down to Utah or L & C if I were you... depends on where in the country you wanna be between those two.

L&C seems like your best bet for the region you want to work in. It would actually help a lot more to say how much debt you would have after graduating.

The total COA I listed for each school is the debt I would have.

L&C if you want Oregon. Utah if you want Utah.

None of the others are worth considering unless you can haggle your stips away.

Say I end up in California or Arizona after school. Which would be better? L&C or Utah?

This is going to matter more on your personal connections and hustle than the difference between L&C and Utah. Don't go to either of these schools if you want CA or AZ. Even with ties it is going to be difficult to get a job considering you will be competing with all the local kids and all the T14 kids with ties.

What bk said. My final advice is to pick the one with the lowest COA when you subtract the scholarship. That way, if you want to try it out in CA or AZ you have less debt to worry about when competing against other people from better schools.

Yea in Cleveland. Case has okay mobility to NY and DC but I can't imagine it has much to the west.

Yeah, sorry I didn't see OP wanted west cast. In that case I would leverage Case Western's scholly to reduce Seattle's scholly stips and go there. Top 25% is absolutely ridiculous.

My Santa Clara scholly didn't have a 25% stip IIRC...are you sure about that one? Was it the "Emery Scholarship"?
