Top Law Schools

I was recently accepted to study law at Hofstra. It is a school that is towards the bottom of my list and I am still waiting to hear from 10 schools that rank higher. However, I was offered a $25K scholarship. If I get accepted into a better school but offered no scholarship money would it be worth it to go to Hofstra or some how figure out a way to pay for the better school considering I have only a $5,000 education award to put towards tuition at the moment? Or, if I get into a better school, should I try to defer enrollment and take a job I was offered for next year that offers another $5K education award?

What is your better school?

The other schools I applied to are: Temple, Villanova, American, Illinois, Loyola Chicago, Maryland, Catholic, University of San Francisco, University of San Diego, and Yeshiva Cardozo. I haven't heard back from any of them yet.

just to get it out of the way, not one of those schools is worth sticker.

Would you be able to claim residency at any of those schools?

Possibly Temple

If you can, Temple at less than 20k a year is a better option than Hofstra.

Not sure about any of the others.

Where do you want to eventually practice? Those are all regional schools. That said, Temple's rep in Philly far surpasses Hofstra's rep in NYC. Even with the scholarship from Hofstra (which you may lose if there are strict GPA/class rank stipulations), if you can claim PA residency, Temple will end up significantly cheaper.

Maryland is only slightly more expensive than Temple if you can claim residency. I'd consider it if you have the opportunity and can get in-state.

At sticker the only good option is any in-state school. Temple is solid in Philly IMO, I would go there if you can get in-state.
