NYU vs. UT $$

This is more of a personal issue - I'm from the East coast and my SO is from the mountain West, where I'd potentially be interested in moving one day. She's lukewarm about NY but enthusiastic about Austin. Would I be placing myself and my future career at such a large disadvantage if I chose Texas in this scenario?

From what I understand the most texas gives is 15K unless you got a full ride.
Going to UT over NYU with only 15 (even with in-state) would be a terrible decision. Im almost done with undergrad here, and many of my friends currently attending the LS are miserable and very worried about job prospects.

Really? Care to elaborate? How are PI jobs looking?

Im unsure of PI jobs, most people I know dont want that. One person, a good friend, said that going to UT with the 15K a year was a terrible decision and he regrets it. He hates how competitive it is, and the fact that people know they are screwed if they are not in the top 1/4 of the class. (or thats how he feels).
One thing that I will say is that he went here for undergrad, and I think that might make it worse. Because you had so much fun here in 4 years, and his life has had to totally change. Plus if you want to leave Texas, your basically out of luck

This all depends how much money UT is giving you. 15k - go NYU, 90k+ - I'd vote UT
