Included in a recent email to 3L's at my school:

"Very Important Note: If you are currently working (even on a part-time basis) and will continue that job after graduation but continue to seek a permanent position, you should select Employed as your Employment Status, enter your current position information AND then select “I continue to seek a job other than described here” under Search Status."

3Ls can't spell?

So the school is telling you to report being employed even if you are just working part-time in any job? But then also to report that you are seeking employment for a full-time job? I guess there is no breakdown that shows what kind of job you have or how many hours you work, what benefits, etc. But what about reporting salary? Did they give any instructions on that?

Just do everyone else (other than the law schools in general) a favor and start a campaign to check "unemployed" unless you are working at a legit, legal (or business, or non-profit, etc.) job that your law degree helped you get.

It's complete B.S. that something like Burger King should be able to count, yet schools do it. They need to own up to their actions and realize that they didn't help all their students get jobs.
