Oregon, Pitt, or UConn

Here's my situation: Career Changer, originally from Oregon, lived in NYC for 7 years, and spent a good part of my time overseas/in the South.

As far as the schools go:

Oregon - Free tuition (G.I Bill and resident status), originally from the area.

Pitt - Free Tuition (Gi Bill, yellow ribbon program), never been here a day in my life.

UConn- Owe about 20 the first year, free tuition 2nd and 3rd years. Know the area well.

Just looking for a solid place to settle down (next 25-30 years), to raise my kids, buy a house, build the white picket fence and eek out a career. Cost of living and education for kids are also very important ingredients. Thoughtful comments are appreciated. I am not using TLS as my only basis, just seeking outside, non-emotional sources to help us out. Thanks in advance.

Where do you want to live/work permanently?

I am biased cause I go to Pitt but in terms of employment stats as well as just quality of life in general I think Pitt has the other two beat.

Oregon if you can find a job is a great place to live.
Just my 2 cents.

Agreed. There's a reason why Pittsburgh is the #1 place to live in the U.S. by publications such as Forbes and The Economist. Before you make a decision, you should definitely visit.

+1

Also, I looked into Connecticut during my cycle last year, and you should really take a look at the legal market there. It was a lot smaller than I liked.

I've lived in both rural Oregon and Pittsburgh: you will be richer in Pittsburgh, but I think Eugene is an infinitely nicer place to live and if I were you I'd take Oregon in a heartbeat if you have a full ride at both ESPECIALLY if you already have ties and/or family in Oregon. If money is the only indicator of happiness in your world, then Pitt. Otherwise, Oregon. If you have any doubts, visit Pittsburgh in February. Winters alone are enough of a reason to pick Oregon. Remember you would probably not be able to go back to Oregon later. Pittsburgh sounds like a much greater personal risk considering your situation. I could go on longer--PM me if you want more. Good luck!

Edit: I reread your original post and would like to add one caveat: I do think public education and medical care are both a lot better in Pittsburgh than in Eugene (but if I were you I'd still go with Eugene even with that because I think the quality of life/atmosphere is infinitely better in Oregon than PA).
