Top Law Schools

I am interested in working in NYC/NJ (I live in the area and grew up here---some legal contacts), Boston, Philly, DC or Chicago---I know NOTHING about Atlanta and its legal market---anyone who knows Atlanta can chime in on lifestyle, the job market, music scene---ANYTHING (I was only there for the Olympics once)

CoL will be covered, and I will have an intrafamily no interest loan for tuition

How about MARTA and Emory---I know I'd need a car but could I get around in general (commuting, nightlife etc) by public transit?

Looking at private firms (not necessarily biglaw but I'd like to keep it as an option), inhouse work for corporations or public interest/NGO work for health or environmental or civil rights law (obviously I won't know till I get into and start interning etc, but I enjoyed my time working in midlaw in NYC)
Also would like some chance at a clerkship.

Stipulation are good academic standing at Emory, top 80% or so at cardozo

Fordham? BC? BU? In your situation it seems like you could get into one of the T30s in the northeast. I suppose Cardozo at that price is not bad, but it's behind tons of schools in NYC.

With a 3.5 GPA & a 166 LSAT, you should be admitted to Fordham, which, if affordable, may be a better option for your goals than either Emory or Cardozo, in my opinion.

?? I had assumed I had a 1% chance---if that, at Cornell

No, it doesn't trump Cardozo at $9,000 a year, but it does trump Emory if you want to work in New York City. I am not certain, but I think that I recently read that Cornell extended its application deadline for those granted fee waivers.

Yeah I don't think you're getting into Cornell. As to whether Fordham is worth sticker...not really, but if you really want NYC biglaw it might be for you. Just better get in the top 1/4. Cardozo just isn't worth much these days.

Interesting---as much as I think I will hate Ithaca, Cornell IMO is worth sticker

Ithaca is actually a nice place. And I'm not biased, I might be one of the few people alive who has been rejected by Cornell three times.

Yea but to be fair you chose a school in South Bend. As much as I like hiking and mountain biking, it is pretty much in the middle of nowhere---but I would visit and probably go if I got in

South Bend is a metropolis compared to Ithaca. I'm not even kidding. I'm from New York as well (LI), and it was an adjusting period, but I love it here now (granted, I've been out here a while)

LOCI the hell out of BU. Hope for Fordham and/or BC. If you have to go to one at sticker, I would pick BC/BU over Fordham.

I wouldn't go to either of these schools with your goals. Keep trying to get into some of your still-pending options.
