Top Law Schools

Which would you recommend in terms of job prospects, especially in NYC and possibly for NJ? All are sticker aside from Hofstra just in case you didn't notice, so tuition is obviously a factor as well.

Oh, and if you're going to respond anything along the lines of "retake or "re-aplly" then please don't waste your time and mine.

You won't like this at all, but the credited response is retake and reapply. All are terrible options at those prices. If you absolutely must chose from that list of schools, you go to the cheapest one. You aren't gonna see a meaningful enough boost in employment prospects to justify attending one at sticker vs. another with 20k.

Rutgers, it's got good prospects in Jersey, maybe top 5-10% can get you nyc.

This question is somewhat like choose your poison...but if I had to choose I'd go with Rutgers.

Well I'm likely going to Rutgers, so take this for what its worth, but I voted Rutgers and here's why:

1. You can live in NJ and get instate tuition from year 1. (it says 22k for instate residents on the website, not sure if that is up to date though)
2. Brooklyn and Cardozo are crazy expensive at sticker. Not worth any minor employment benefits.
3. 20k at Hofstra makes it about even with Rutgers. Rutgers is a far better choice.

Ok then. Enjoy bad job prospects in absolute terms and in relation to the amount you will pay for these schools.

Out of all those, Cardozo. TCR is none of them, however.

Don't go to law school.

I'm from LI and the comparisons to NJ are just completely unwarranted.

none of them are worth sticker and Hofstra only makes sense with a full ride. take some time off, retake and you will be in a better position.

I'd say it's a toss up between Rutgers and Cardozo. Rutgers will definitely be cheaper after 1 year in-state, and there are good job prospects in NJ in gov't work. Also, Rutgers has a decent representation in big law, and if you're top of the class (I recognize this is a big "if') and have LR etc., you will have access to those jobs. Cardozo also has a decent representation in big law if you're top of the class, but living in NY and paying the higher tuition will drain you financially. You can live in the Bergen County suburbs of NJ and live in a nice 1 BR for about 1100 a month. I'd pick Rutgers personally, but I went there for undergrad, so I'm a bit biased.

So far it looks like the basic consensus is a toss up between Cardozo and Rutgers. Cardozo seems to have a bit more of a chance at getting biglaw, but the question remains whether that small percentage is worth the extra cash at Cardozo tuition.

I should also note that I don't have to factor in living expenses at this point.

Dude, the difference between biglaw is like top 7% vs top 5%. Either way it's almost nil. It really shouldn't factor much if any into your choice.
