Decisions...Decisions...Help me choose

Post by jr8966 » Wed Feb 16, 2011 12:51 am

I am very happy with my cycle thus far. As a born and raised Texan I am naturally leaning towards going with UT (great COL and no income tax), but I am having a hard time passing up Cornell. I also worked in DC for a few years after undergrad doing leg/govt work so I wouldn't mind relocating to the East coast.

Still waiting on Northwestern, Stanford, Columbia. (All reaches) WL so far at Penn, Georgetown, and UVA.

How much more do you want to work in New York than in Dallas or Houston after you graduate? Do you want it $100k more?

Also, and I'm just going out on a limb here, but you don't have seasonal affective disorder, do you? Bonus question: Have you lived in a part of the world where you'd be able to know one way or the other?

Oh yeah also I didn't vote for the "get off the waitlist" option because that's not an option right now. If you do get into any of those places, things might change.

Are you sure Cornell is not offering you any money? I got accepted three weeks ago and they still haven't told me how much they will be offering me. I say you wait it out before April 15 (I think that's when deposits are due) and see what offers you get.

P.S. I'm still waiting on Columbia too

Interested in this also. I might be facing an identical situation except OOS for texas and strong connections to NY.

I'm trying to make the exact same decision right now OP. I voted for Texas.

I also am looking at USC and Vandy, which are likely to match UT's scholarships.

I currently live in Austin and went out to eat. BBQ/Whataburger is making this decision very hard. Thanks for all the input.
