I have read a lot of other threads regarding decisions like this but I was hoping for some personal feedback. thanks in advance

1) So I just (surprisingly) got into Columbia and I seriously doubt I will get any scholarship. COA ~200k
2) I have been offered 93K to attend University of Texas. COA ~90k
3) I have been offered 60k to attend UCLA. COA ~140k
4) I have been offered 24k to attend my UG alma mater, University of Florida. COA ~50k

I would live in almost any major coastal city, especially NY, SF, LA, DC, Boston and Miami

I'm not psyched about debt but avoiding it is not my #1 priority.

I would like the option to do academia, government, biglaw and PI but mostly see myself in biglaw

Any advice is appreciated

Columbia is TCR, based on where you want to go. Unless you're dead set on Miami, in which case take Florida (and be in the top 1% of your class)

Honestly this seems like an easy answer: If you are cool with living in TX I would take UT. Anything else you take Columbia and either get biglaw to pay off the debt or take PI to get their insane LRAP program to pay it off for you.

Columbia because you seem more inclined to coastal cities, and because you may want to do academia someday. If you're cool with Dallas/Houston/Austin then take UT, but Columbia will open way more doors--financially, geographically, and otherwise. If I were you I'd use Texas and UCLA against each other, and then both of them against Columbia for more money.

Waiting on any other applications? Wait for any other T14 applications, see if you get money, then start to negotiate. Work your way up, your starting point will depend on your offers.

As of right now, you probably won't be able to get anything out of Columbia, and even if you do get a T10 with money, you still might not be able to get any from Columbia.

That being said, if you can get T14 or T10 with money, depending on which one and how much, it may be worth it over Columbia.

Definitely CLS. I was all set to say UCLA but then I saw your career goals. Enjoy CLS. I'm very jealous.

Since you seem to have no interest in living in TX, it's not worth attending UT just to reduce your debt. Sticker at CLS is justified by your career goals and preferred markets, IMO.

Unless you view Houston as a "major coastal city", then, based on your posted preference, Columbia, followed by UCLA, is the best choice.
