26k (in state) vs 30k (out of state)
UGA is 32 ranks higher but both are pretty regional.
A little worried about moving. Friends and family are here in Houston.
Thoughts? No brainer?

Total cost per year or over 3 years? (keep in mind that you get in-state at UGA after your first year, which brings it to ~12K/yr. COL is also much lower in Athens.

UGA's rank is irrelevant. Where do you want to end up? If Houston, then UH; if Atlanta, then UGA. UH actually places pretty well considering its rank.

Seems like you don't really want to leave Houston, but you're considering UGA due solely because of the rankings. Please don't.

No brainer as in you should stay in Houston cause you'll hate yourself for moving all the way to UGA just to find out you hate it there?

If you don't care where you work, it is a no brainer.

Go to UH. It's cheap and places very well in Houston. I work at firm in downtown Houston and they have nothing but great things to say about the law program there.

I guess it isn't as much of a no brainer as I thought. I don't know how I'll like Athens, but I know I don't love Houston. I can't get over the fact that UH was close to 15K a few years ago, jumped up to 21k, and plans to increase tuition by 25% to 26k-- while it continues to drop in the ranks.
Yeah, I'd be going to UGA 30% because of US ranks, 50% because of tuition (I'm praying for even the Spring semester in state tuition equalizer), and 20% to leave Houston. But if UH was ranked where UGA was ranked, and 4k cheaper than UGA's OSS, I'd go to UH.
As it stands, I'll go to UGA if I get any kind of scholarship offer. I'll go to UH if I get no scholarship from UGA and a scholarship from UH that brings it below 20k. If I get no scholarships from either school, I'll make another thread in a month or two.

If you would rather work in Atlanta after graduation, then go to UGA. But don't bank on being able to take that degree back to Texas.
I don't know anything about UH, but I can say that Athens is a wonderful place and UGA is a great school with a stellar reputation in Atlanta.

Edit: Sorry, completely misunderstood this post. Disregard my inquiry.

You are obviously going to law school for the wrong reasons, good luck to you!

Go to the one that is in the region you want to practice in. I'm assuming that's Houston.
