WUSTL (full-ride) vs UT (84k) vs Duke (54k) vs UVA (sticker)

WUSTL scholarship is actually $120k, so about $10k tuition debt over 3 years

UT would leave around $54k tuition debt.

Duke: $87k

UVA: $135k

I'm pretty strongly debt-averse. I have some ties in North Carolina and more in Texas. I think COL is comparable in these locations.

I guess I just assumed the ties to Texas meant that OP wouldn't mind working in Texas, in which case I think UT is TCR.

UT if you want Texas. WUSTL if you want the midwest and/or minimal debt. Duke if you want Biglaw. UVA can be crossed off.

Edit: FWIW, I would go with Duke over Texas, as the gain in job prospects is enough to justify the extra $30k in debt. It would then be between Duke and WUSTL, depending on your career goals, preferences in location, and debt aversion.

This. But I would go further and narrow it down to UT vs. Duke. Id say go to texas if you want to work in texas after graduation. Go to Duke if you want to work on the east coast/anywhere else/keep your options open.

I wouldnt go to WUSTL. Yes, they gave you a great scholly, but UT is a significantly better school than WUSTL and it would only cost you an extra $44k or so to attend. I wouldnt close off the doors that UT will open.

I'd say TITCR.

I'd choose duke if I were him. It's only 30k more, and there really isn't anything gained by going to Ut since he already has Tx ties. By going to duke, he'll be better in a better position for bigtex, NYC biglaw and NC.
