What do you want to do with your education?

Ideally? I'd love to get involved with the intricacies of determining energy subsidization plans. I'm very pro-alternative energy. My undergrad degree is actually in a subset of chemical engineering dealing solely with alternative energy.
I'm not quite sure why you'd want a law degree for that. It seems like a Masters of Public Policy program would do a lot more for you there. There really is no reason to go to law school if you don't want to become a lawyer because (1) Law school will not prepare you in any way for a non-law position and (2) Law school will not effectively provide placement in any non-legal job.

Yeah, maybe. Or IP law. Or fishing.

OP: I am interested in working in energy law as well. From what I have found, Texas is (unsurprisingly) the only school that actually has an energy law program. Most schools only have one actual "Oil and Gas Law" class. However, energy law is really just a branch of regulatory law, as is environmental law. Look for schools that have strong programs in regulatory/environmental law and that will place you at a firm or government agency you would like to work in.
