Why Choose COOLEY With High LSAT?

I don't get it. There are several students that have scored 160+ on the LSAT and they are attending Cooley. I don't understand why they would do that unless they have a full ride through school. Wouldn't the reputation of the school sort of negate that perk?

Not everyone visits TLS. Perhaps others have an established life (family etc) in Lansing.

Wow, two Cooley threads in one day. Fortunately, Cooley threads are totally interesting and original and in no way hint at a deep insecurity on the part of the person starting the thread.

You get an automatic full tuition scholarship with an LSAT of 163 or higher.

To be fair, I feel like a lot of non Tier 1 schools are increasingly all about networking to find a job. If you live in Michigan, know people here ( have connections), want to stay in Michigan and have a full-ride at Cooley lined up...might not be the worst plan in an uncertain economy.

So, you guys are basically saying that it is possible to be a good attorney even if you go to Cooley? I thought maybe Cooley's faculty or curriculum somehow gave students a major disadvantage compared to those attending a school like U of Michigan.

Edit: btw, you really need to retake. Like being serious.

LOL I did. Anyway, I just wanted to know why someone who is gifted would choose Cooley when they could go to a much more reputable school if they wanted to. I'm here because I simply could not get in anywhere else. From the Cooley threads I have read on this board, I am glad that I already have a job secured after I graduate.

I got a 163 on my LSAT and am a 1L at Cooley. The reason why I chose Cooley over my other offers was because of the full ride scholarship. The highest ranking school I got accepted to was Hofstra with a 25% scholarship with the stipulation that I was in the top 30% of my class. I was seriously considering taking that offer but my undergrad GPA wasn't good and I had been out of school for 3 years and wasn't very confident in my abilities to be able to handle the rigors of law school.
Cooley is not the joke that everyone on the outside claims that it is. But I have to admit, the stupid ranking system that they hawk gives them an awful reputation and they need to knock it off. It makes me feel like an idiot going to a school that makes such rediculous claims.
