Let me get this straight:

So Pitt, Colorado, and Denver are not options if I want to work in Pittsburgh, the Mountain West, or Colorado, respectively? Keep in mind that I stated an eventual move back to Michigan is a possibility.

Even though working for the federal gov't is a small possibility, do you realize that Denver has the most significant federal footprint outside of DC? It's certainly a possibility unless you have some grand data bank which shows the agencies avoiding the local schools...

Go to Colorado if you're interested in working in CO. Go to Pitt if you wanna work at Pitt. This issue is simple.

Based, as I said above, on the numbers of DU grads who come here because they can't find work in Colorado, I think TLS's observations are pretty accurate.
