Any views would be highly appreciated.
Which one would you pick and why? Taking into account job propects nationwide and academia.
Thank you!

If you want to work in North Carolina, go to UNC. If you want to work anywhere else in this beautiful country, go to Texas. That is not to say that going there will enable you to place in any region you want, just that it would more so than UNC. I'm sure the UNC academia prospects are non-existant. I don't know about Texas, but they're probably similar.
Oh, and if you want to go to a school that wins things, choose UNC.

What markets interest you?
Texas is ranked better but both schools have regional power - so it really depends on where you want to practice.
Personally I can tell you that Chapel Hill is a beautiful city and UNC is just a great place to be. If you want to work in NC ... UNC is the clear choice.

Texas is a better school, but if you want to work in NC, go to UNC b/c it's the shit down there. If you want to work anywhere else, go to Texas.

It depends on whether or not you want to have a better chance at getting a job.

Thks guys,
I am interested in possibly DC, California, Chicago area and maybe NY.
It seems Texas has a better reputation in these markets and it is a better school if one wants to break into academia!!!!

Really. This thread is about which one you should apply too. Really? And. Um, if you got into both, go to Texas. Even if you don't want to work in texas. Do it anyway. Texas dominates its market, probably more so than any other school.

If you want to work in these places then neither of these schools should be on your list.

Law schools are EXTREMELY regional. You need to do your research. Your post makes me think you have no idea about schools. At all. You should just browse this site for a while.

Depends on where you want to live. If homeless shelter is where you want to live when you are older, pick UNC. If you want to live in a house eventually then I would go to Texas.

Wondering this. It's pretty late in the cycle.... would UT OOS tuition be worth it if in-state UNC tuition is already in the bag? Dream scenario is a larger market in the south (Atlanta, Charlotte, Nashville, Richmond... pretty much a broad swath from New Orleans to DC). Not opposed to working in Texas, however.
Does Texas have an in-state/out-of-state ratio like UNC? Would shooting an app their way this late even be worth the app fee? Numbers are 3.65/167.
Thanks everyone.

Yes, it would be over UNC.

Yes, but not as severe.

Yes.

Why are schools so regional? And why should I not get a job with a degree from Texas in Washington or NY or California?
Is it because of the existing schools in those States? If I go to say Berkeley, I can't get a job in Texas?
I do know a bit about schools I just don't consider so much the geographical area of the school specially if it's respected in other States.
Look at Vandy.! Very reputable school and you can get a job nationawide?

Vandy is ranked higher than UNC, so there's that. UNC just isn't that great of a law school if you don't want to work in NC or SC. Texas is a national school, but most of the people who go there want to work in Texas. If you want NY/Cali, you're going to need to go to a top school or a good regional school. If you want DC, best advice is probably to reconsider, because no one gets Big Law in DC.
