Hey I'm a fellow URM. American is a great school. A school you can easily get in IF you retake the LSAT. Buy the Logic Bibles and study your As* off. If you got a 155 you easly get scholarships from schools ranked 50 and up with EASE.

Thanks for the tips. to be specific, i am a recent immigrant from rural africa/7yrs. i would like to go back and work there & thought int'l law is a good fit. Learned English here and improving the LSAT is probably too difficult.

DISCLAIMER - I have not read this thread beyond your initial post.joni7alex wrote:3.7, 149 & URM. I would like to do international law: to work in human rights or development. AU was my dream school but i don't think my numbers get me there. What do you guys think are my other best shots. thanks
Apply to every school that your 3.7 is above the gpa median.
Retake if you want. If not, you will get into a decent school (assuming you are truly URM and not just a minority).

Hi!
with those stats,
i got into William Mitchell, Northeastern, St. Thomas University
Rejected from BU, Baylor, Miami U
Wait listed from UoP McGeorge, Quinnipiac Law
Still waiting to hear back from USF, UC Davis, Mercer Law, UC Hastings
To all of them, I applied really late like around February and March. I've only taken the LSAT once in December and because of that i didn't have the option of retaking, and i didn't want to take a year off so i had to apply with what i have and make the best out of it.

When people say international law, I assume they're talking about transfer pricing strategy.

I don't know if this has been brought up yet b/c tl;dr, but why don't you consider getting an MPP first and then looking at law school if you still think that's a necessity for your career goals.
then
retake
then
retake

no, i am serious, it's hard to be successful, but if he is, then sky's the limit, and given his stats, if he can get in, American would be a great place to start
