Cross posting my question. What's good/bad about having big/small section size?

I assume this is for class (not class of 20__, but rather the courses) sizes, not section sizes right? Because Duke sections are actually around 30ish in size. We just have classes with another section for all but one of our classes 1l year (my small section class was ConLaw, and was fantastic).

Nonono. You are thinking about class size. Section size has to do with who you go to class with everyday. In general, smaller is always better, because it means more one on one time with professors, more accountability (keeps you working), and closer connections with your classmates.

A lot of schools class size = section size.

At my school I only have class with my section first semester. Legal writing is half my section.

Next semester we get two electives so obviously class size varies.

Cornell section size is 34.

I have a feeling half of those are wrong.

UVA sections are 30 each.

These numbers refer to average doctrinal class sizes. Did you only have 30 classmates in 1L Torts or Contracts?

UVA Profile
UVA reported 72 for regular 1L doctrinal sections and 31 for "other" sections.

Cornell Profile
Cornell reported 99 for regular 1L doctrinal sections and 33 for "other" sections.

Pretty sure Stanford's section size is 30 or so. The doctrinal classes are comprised of 2 sections each to reach about 60.

Chicago's is around 33

Michigan's are about 22-23 for our small sections, and our doctrinal classes are either in two or four section blocks.

He's a 2L, broski. Wasn't in Blocher's class this year, but last year. Also, Siegel taught two Conlaw small sections this year.
