Stetson vs. FIU
Considering both schools, Stetson having $30K/yr tuition and FIU having $12K/yr tuition, is there a huge, significant difference in their education. I know Stetson ranks really high in Trial Advocacy and Legal Writing and FIU is still new, but is Stetson worth the amount of debt? Thanks...

I hate being one of those guys, but...
Neither is a good bet, especially without a scholarship.
What are your numbers? (gpa/lsat) Retaking the LSAT and getting some $$ is TCR.

What do you want to do & where do you want to live? I'm a Stetson 2L.

Well, I would like to live in the St. Augustine/Jacksonville/Orlando type area....I guess you could classify that as Northeast Florida, but willing to flex a bit....not quite sure exactly what area I want to pursue...

Retaking and reapplying next year might be the best choice. A few more points in each section could get you a) more money at Stetson or b) admission to FSU or UF.mlewis87 wrote:Well, I would like to live in the St. Augustine/Jacksonville/Orlando type area....I guess you could classify that as Northeast Florida, but willing to flex a bit....not quite sure exactly what area I want to pursue...

Honestly I don't know Stetson grads do in those areas of FL. I would imagine they do not do nearly as well as they do in the Tampa Bay region.
I would advise you to keep your career goals in mind (and continually refine them) as you make this decision. I would not have come to Stetson, which required taking on considerable debt, had I not been dedicated to pursuing a public service career (IBR + PSLF).

Retake, get a 162ish (eminently doable) and go to UF or FSU. Both Stetson and FIU, in general, are bad ideas in this economy.mlewis87 wrote:Well, I would like to live in the St. Augustine/Jacksonville/Orlando type area....I guess you could classify that as Northeast Florida, but willing to flex a bit....not quite sure exactly what area I want to pursue...

Stetson is probably a bit of a better school but it does not come close to being worth sticker. I would go FIU just because it's cheap. But I also agree that you should retake and shoot higher, or at least get a scholarship at Stetson.
