Top Law Schools

My numbers are 162/3.8...good softs, but I doubt I'd even have a shot of being WL at U of Minnesota. Just wondering what anyone thinks about the other schools in Minnesota such as Hamline, William Mitchell, and St. Thomas. Does anyone have personal connections to any of these schools or know anything about their reputation or the quality of education?

I wouldn't necessarily count U of M out, at least according to LSN (160/3.85, 162/3.84, and a 155/3.79 all got in last cycle).

Other than that, WM is the only other legitimate school in the Twin Cities (IMO).

The only thing cool about Hamline is the dual JD/MFA degree, and the only thing cool about St. Thomas is, well, nothing comes to mind.

This. 2 schools in the TC should be considered. The other 2 are just kind of eh.

If you can still ED to MN you have a real shot. Other than that, try WM and their Mitchell Fellows program

I was accepted last cycle with 159/3.74/interesting softs. It's certainly doable, though far from a lock (I won't say much more lest the LSAT elitists harass me). I suggest writing a Why Minnesota essay as well.

If you have connections to the city, you should consider Wisconsin and Iowa as well. They're respected in Minnesota and offer more mobility within the region than the other schools you mentioned.

This. 2 schools in the TC should be considered. The other 2 are just kind of eh.

St. Thomas is moving up but I think a sizable portion of the legal community is pissed at them for crowding the market.

I think in the TC job prospects aren't incredibly different coming out of WM v. the U. From what I understand, Biglaw doesn't have a terribly big presence here either. If you look at the rosters of firms in the TC you will notice a strong WM presence as well.
