Hi, I'm from NYC. And the people who have manners do give a shit. The ones who wouldn't give a shit are those in one certain neighborhood.
I don't think I'll ever understand why everyone has this obcessive need to critique other peoples' manner of speaking. Don't you get enough conformity in your tiny pink lives?
It's called being polite. Since when does having manners become a "tiny pink life"?? It's not about what you said, it's how you said it.

You think you are so smart, and that intelligence somehow gives you the right to be a douche. To patronize others. But I feel that people with a certain intelligence and a certain attitude think they know everything. Then one day, real life comes and kicks them in the ass. Have some humble pie.

Western NY would give more credence to Buffalo, Albany, and Syracuse grads. Eastern Ohio is dominated by Case, OSU, Cleveland, Akron, etc.

This is my point, I like dirrectness. It cuts out the bullshit and promotes honesty and clarity. If that comes at the price of tact, well, I'll save tact for my mother.

Oh, and I am humble. Its just that I reserve my humilility for people who are smarter and more accomplished than me (like many of my classmates). If I was humble all the time, it would be insincere.

+1

I'm just gonna ignore the poster above me who thinks s/he is smarter than me just because s/he scored higher on the LSAT. If only measuring intelligence was that simple.

If you're that worried, you may want to hold off and retake so that you can get into a more national school.

I said "you" I never mention "I". The "you" is a general term referring to anyone who speak a certain way. No need to insult me, just words :)
Just because I'm insulting doens't mean you have to take everything I say as an insult.

You are at Fells. Fells is less elitist than most of Penn. Therefore, Fells is one of the few places at Penn where you (or I or anyone) would even get dirty looks for being a douche. There, better?
You totally misunderstood me then. I mean Penn is a collegial place where ALL you can get for being a douche is a dirty look. Which means you will not get your jaw broken or get shot at. This is not Penn State BTW. Since we misunderstood each other, I apologize.

Fels is a very non-elitist place. I really enjoy it. People are more focused on how to contribute to society than what they can benefit from it. If anyone wants to go to Penn Law and aim for PI, def. do the joint degree.

Thinking that you can tell who is smarter than you or dumber than you with great accuracy itself shows that you aren't smart at all or that you are strikingly arrogant.

Unless you think grades=smarter. Which could indeed be true. But if so you might as well say that you just defer to people who get better grades than you.

I actually think undergrad is even worse because you are forced to declare a major to prepare you for a career before most of you know anything about the careers you an choosing. At least you are somewhat informed about what you want as 20 somethings.

It's funny because 1) a lot of people think that and 2) it irks the hell out of penn kids.

Right, I understand the motives behind the joke, but it's so unoriginal.

The sad thing is no Penn State campuses around Philly really care about the lions.

I don't know, I think of it more as a meme than a joke.

Odds on Veyron starting next year's "Struck out at OCI" thread?

Judging from last years numbers 50/50, or being an optimist based on this years (estimated) numbers 40/60.

However, I though I would like biglaw, I also have some pretty cool non-biglaw leads. If any of those pan out, you won't see me crying. Also, large firms in my hometown don't do OCI at Penn. If I strike out, it just means no NYC biglaw. I can live with that. Now, if I end up funemployed, thats a different story.

And yes, Fels does have a faint whif of socialism about it if thats what you're getting at R8.

Americans have a very diverse sets of attitudes and, since no one on the internet can actually kick my ass, I adopt the one I like best. If you don't like it, feel free not to read my posts.

IRL, people who don't like the way I speak are free not to associate with me, and plenty don't. The ones that are left are my friends. Those that try to fight me find out that even a nerd who went to school in the bario can take care of himself.
You would get rocked if you actually meant it. Plus it's Brooklyn where most of the shit-talking happens.

Yeah I'm really not kidding when I say if you said some of the stuff you say to people at Brooklyn, you can expect a quick ass whooping.

I'll keep that in mind if I ever decided to go hipster spotting. However, I do say this shit like this and far worse to my friends in Manhattan, its all good. You should hear the kind of stuff they say to me.

In any case why should I care that in some locale, somewhere, I would get my jaw broken for saying what I do? I would get stoned to death in Iran and blown the fuck up in Mogadishu. This is equally irrelevant to my life.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
