I'm a Petroleum Engineer with 3 years work experience. I'm interested in IP law.
What are your recommendations for law school with an IP emphasis? For example US News ranks University of Houston (where I live) in the top 10 for IP law schools, how would going to UH compare to going to a top 15 overall law school?

Ignore specialty rankings.

Specialty rankings mean nothing.
That said, UH wouldn't be a bad choice for a petroleum engineer looking for IP law. Not because of the specialty rankings, but because of its location. A top 15 school will of course be far better.

For instance, University of Texas.

Thanks for the replies.
I did my Undergrad at UT, I was hoping to try something new for post grad.
I guess I'll need to be studying hard for next year's LSAT.

Not if you want to go to law school in Texas. If you want something new, apply to Duke, UVA, and Vandy. And the rest of the top 18 schools + George Washington.
