3.51 and a 170 USC UCLA chances?
The 170 is a retake after a poor 161. I have also studied abroad twice. However I received a MIP my first semester freshman year.
Do I have a chance at USC or UCLA? I am also applying to Loyola...
Any feedback would be appreciated...

God I hope so. I'm 170/3.4 and I'll be applying to both schools.

Yep. You should be fine if you're in state.

That is great news if it comes true. Should I make one an ED? Also should I write separate personal statements?
Thanks for the replys

Don't waste your ED, you're almost sure to get in -- use it somewhere ranked higher that you're also interested in, or just don't bother with it.
The PS thing is up to you. Certainly not necessary though.

How high do you think I can reach? I would like to stay in CA or go to NY or Mass...

MVP are possibilities, maybe NYU with ED.PAR12 wrote:How high do you think I can reach? I would like to stay in CA or go to NY or Mass...

You could almost definitely get Cornell, and one of MVP might be interested. Don't think you can get much higher than that.

wrong. CA schools have been giving preference to out-of-staters because they desperately need the higher tuition fees for one year.johnnyutah wrote:Yep. You should be fine if you're in state.

Doesn't matter -- OPs numbers are good enough, regardless.sanetruth wrote:wrong. CA schools have been giving preference to out-of-staters because they desperately need the higher tuition fees for one year.johnnyutah wrote:Yep. You should be fine if you're in state.

Yup. There's debate about which applicants are favored by UCLA, but (at the very least) we know that they don't favor CA residents. Also, they take your highest LSAT score- so don't worry about the retake.vespertiliovir wrote:Doesn't matter -- OPs numbers are good enough, regardless.sanetruth wrote:wrong. Also, would it make a difference either way if I apply for the joint JD/ Masters program?

Damn. I was rejected from UCLA in 2008 with a 3.4/171, and I figured it was cause I was out of state. Nevermind, then.sanetruth wrote:wrong. My advice having had similar stats last cycle is apply EARLY. I was waitlisted a ton of places at schools both higher and lower ranked and I applied mid-late January.
