Florida International 55-90k

Yeah I was surprised by that too!

is that from USNWR? it might be reflective of 25% of the class, if so.

it's only REPORTED salaries (~50-70% of class) for PRIVATE firms (reduce again by up to 1/2).

Yes, I obtained this list from an earlier post on this forum. These starting salaries are indeed for the private sector and are reflective of the lowest 25% and highest 75%.

so do you believe that 58-100k is a realistic midrange estimate for FAMU? that school probably had like 35% of its students employed, with less than half of them reporting their salaries.

Yes, in fact I do believe it is very realistic for FAMU. The numbers correlate with their statistics on their website as well. The only school order, in terms of salary, that I was surprised about was UMiami and UF.

Nightrunner wrote:People should be very skeptical of generic, median-oriented salary data. It is often subject to gaming, and not representative.

Here is a graduate outcomes chart (older data, but from a better hiring economy):

THINGS TO NOTICE:

The first three bars on the left (NLJ 250, Other Firms, and Clerkships) are good things. No matter how someone tries to game them, they indicate graduates who are gainfully employed in the legal field.

The last three bars on the right (Unemployed, Unknown, Attrition) are BAD things. They indicate students who are absolutely not gainfully employed in legal jobs.

The positions in the middle can be either/or scenarios, and are hard to gauge. Sometimes "Business" means a legal job for a corporation; sometimes it means working at Starbucks. I have two friends with J.D.s who work in "Government." One works for the House Rules Committee, drafting laws (a bomb-ass gig). Another answers phones in a State Representative's Office (not so much bomb-ass). Both fall under the "government" category.

Please, please, please keep in mind that these data are from a better hiring economy.
Thanks for posting this. What year is this data from or when was it recorded? I am surprised that UF has such a number of unemployed.

UF's data is outdated and reflects the salaries of about 189/415 graduates, IIRC.

UF's most recent graduating class had about 1/3 (being generous) of the class employed at graduation.

Edit: this is anecdotal, I can't give a verifiable source

that chart doesn't list any unemployment at FAMU...that should tell you something about how honest they are

Maybe there isn't any unemployment? Or if there is, it wasn't reported, like someone said this data is probably reported. Who knows, I care about those that are actually employed and for FAMU, as well as other schools such as UF and UMiami, the numbers look good.

OP, please look at the excel spreadsheet linked to at the bottom of this page:

--LinkRemoved--

Then sort by "State where the greatest number of first-time test takers took the bar" to isolate the Florida schools. You can see some interesting things there.

For instance, while the 25% and 75% for Miami are indeed $70k and $130k, respectively, the response rate for the University of Miami graduates in private firms is a paltry 30%. And then you have to include the fact that this data is for the only 66% of total graduates who were employed by firms.

So that $130k number is indicative of the top 25% of the 30% who reported out of the 66% who were employed by firms at all, or about 5% of total graduates. That means the $70k number is indicative of the top 75% of the 30% who reported out of the 66% who were employed by firms at all, or about 15% of total graduates. You can do similar math for other schools (dunno about all those "N/A"s for some schools, like A&M, but you can expect that the numbers can't be good).

Yeah, but even if so, it's nice for others who come here looking for accurate salary date for Florida schools to see something that disputes the data in the OP (much like the graph Nightrunner referenced).

No trolling here. I'm just as honest as they come.

you start pretty controversial threads for someone who just registered 3 days ago
