Without knowing more about your situation, I would choose Emory.

Emory
-Higher ranking and seems to be on the rise (sort of)
-Located in Atlanta, which is about as good of a secondary market as you could ask for
-Better weather
-Beautiful campus
-Still has some access to NYC & DC. Good reputation all along the atlantic coast, but less well known as you head further west. (I'm from Chicago and a lot of people out here are not that familiar with Emory).

Fordham
-Better NYC placement (by quite a bit)
-Because of NYC placement, it also probably would give you a better chance at BIGLAW

Emory, for sure. It is going to have much better placement in South Florida & will be a lot cheaper because of COL.

Did you guys see the Above the Law article saying Emory had 8 firms at OCI? Absolutely horrid. I would look into Emory's job prospects, I think its over-ranked.

Don't pay sticker at either. They are only mediocre choices. Try for a t14

In fairness, that was for 3Ls.

But yeah, I think both are suspect options at best.

You misremembered.

Spring 2010:
* 4 Total Jobs
– 1 Military
– 1 Public Interest
– 1 Job in Georgia (yes, the entire state)
– 1 Job in Alabama

Fall 2010:
* 1 Total Job (not a misprint)

Holy shit. How does this happen? Emory (at least by most measures) is not a bad school- how do so few employers show up to OCI? Comparable schools flip out when fewer than 50 firms show up to OCI... but we're talkin single digits here. Wow... time to cross Emory off the application list.

In the student’s email (below), he or she laments the paltry employer turn-out at OCI (1 employer in the fall, and 4 in the spring) — based on those numbers, the student was likely in the unfortunate position of being a jobless 3L. From the email:

Read the kid's e-mail. Very whiny and comes off as a d-bag. I hope he's not outed.

He may be a whiney douche, but he has a legit gripe.

this makes more sense;

8 employers or w.e for oci are touro-like numbers.

Ok, I think the numbers cited to in the piece are 3L OCI numbers, so apparently that guy struck out at 2L OCI and didn't get a summer job another way, so now he's pissed off. I seriously doubt it's that bad at Emory. As a matter of fact, I know it's not because I know two people who are there right now and they both have good summer jobs.

For the south/southeast, definitely Emory. For NY Fordham. For other markets, about even.
