Top Law Schools

I know Cornell has a program like this, but I was wondering what other schools do too. I am interested in a program like this and want to explore other options apart from Cornell.

would you say that, typically, applying to these makes it more difficult to get in? or is it possible that it makes it easier (i feel like I read that on here once regarding Duke's)? also, is it possible to not get into the JD/LLM program, but to still get into the JD program? Or is it all or nothing?

I have a related question. Is there any actual reason to do one of these programs? I've heard people say LL.M. is only good for tax or for academic jobs (like NYU's in legal theory).

As a general rule, the only LL.M. worth getting is tax from NYU, GULC, or UF.

Yeah OP, don't do a BS LLM. It's a waste of your time and money.

Even a Tax LLM from the big 3 is often not a good idea.

If you really want a dual degree, then enter a J.D./M.B.A. program, much more useful and opens a lot more doors.

But you have to pay the price to get it...I'd say go for it if you don't mind paying extra-money.

If you don't want to be in debt the rest of your life, McGill's dual degree is worth it, the tuition is around 15k/year, the LL.B. itself is 9k/year and offers the same prestige of U.S. T14s.

You will still be able to apply to NYC Biglaw and on top of that, you'll have opportunities opened for Bay St firms in Toronto.

LLM = Lawyers losing money ... With the exception of an LLM in Taxation from NYU or Georgetown; An LLM degree is essentially worthless.. I only use the word essentially, because it is possible that you might need an extra sheet of paper to write something on, in which case the reverse side of the actual degree might come in handy as a large piece of paper to write something on.. Beyond that, I cannot think of a single use for an LLM.

Competitive and no guarantee you'd be accepted (you apply during 1L) but USC has a cool looking one:

I'm pretty sure the JD from Columbia would be ok .. even without the LLM ..

Agreed. This should probably be the only post respond to the op.

Foreign LLM exchanges aren't a horrible idea if you plan on working in the country you're getting the LLM (mostly western Europe, it seems), and want to be a fully licensed attorney in that country.

Except that in many European countries, just an LLM doesn't qualify you to be licensed. It can be a crazy amount of work.
