Top Law Schools

Now that I'm locked into where I'm going, I'm thinking about other options that I should have considered, likely in reaction to being afraid of any sort of commitment (I'm currently wearing both boxers AND briefs).

160/3.6, strong softs and I wish I applied to:

- University of Oregon
- Seattle University
- Lewis & Clark
- University of Denver
- University of Colorado
- SMU
- UNLV (not entirely sure why)

The idea of a quaint life in the pacific northwest is appealing. Dallas would be an interesting change and the school is solid for the city, UNLV would be a weird choice but somehow sounds appealing, and Colorado could have been cool.

Anyone else wanna play the game?

3.4, 169, I actually think I did well and applied to every school I wanted. Got into one of my top choices too (GW, pretty much the highest ranked school after UCLA and USC that I applied to).

I do wish that I had a better response from Cornell. "Reserve" is just weird.

163/3.6. I would probably take a big scholarship (if offered) at Temple over most of the options I've been considering.

I wish I had saved the money I spent on about fifteen reaches and put it into a few more realistic options.

Oh well, I guess I'll take a year off and give a shot next time.

I think I agree on this one. Their law building is very nice, campus is pretty cool, ... you got a flagship state school with a decent football team, and it isn't too hard to get into.

I applied to 24 schools, including the entire T14. Sure I was a long shot at a lot of them, but I knew I was only going to apply once and if I hadn't sent in an application to Harvard or Yale I would have spent the rest of my life wondering "what if?". No regrets here!

Did you really apply to that long list of schools?

Cornell is such a weird school to me. I got the reserve letter as well - and was a little offended when the first paragraph told me "the good news is that you still in the running."

Not 100% sure why it rubbed me the wrong way so much, but I sent an email back saying I was ready to be taken "out of the running".

i wish i had sent a better application to umich.

Wish I had applied to Wustl, and written a better app for Illinois. I wouldn't have gone either way, but I really would've liked acceptances from them to make my decision harder.

Yes, but with a 3.45/168 and good softs, I knew I could be competitive at a good chunk of the lower T14, but that nothing above T20 was a lock. As it turns out, I was right - I was ultimately WL'd/reserved at 8 schools, 5 T14s + Vandy and UCLA. I also applied to a lot of the T20-30 schools for the scholarship money (if I didn't get into a T14 the plan was to follow the money). It's actually not THAT crazy since I had fee waivers for all but a handful of schools...

I am thinking of blanket applying as well, how many schools did you rewrite your PS for? How much longer did it take to do it?

Well... I was also WL'd at USC, but I withdrew the same day, so I never remember to mention it.

I had one PS that I sent to every school. The applications actually didn't take that much time. Once my PS was drafted, the only downside to the blanket approach is all the extra optional essays (Why Mich, Why Penn, etc). Still, I sent in my first app around Halloween and was done by Thanksgiving. If you get fee waivers and you have questionable numbers, I would definitely recommend applying everywhere and anywhere you would consider attending. At the very least, it gives you more ammunition for scholarship negotiations at your second choice school.
