I know this should be (and was) a no brainer, but ITE, this new development is throwing me through a loop.

I don't know where I want to work.

TLS, please assist.

Columbia, Chicago, NYU, which is also my vote for the OP.

The gap is just too big in terms of employment prospects to take the full ride. The only way I would consider the full ride was if you wanted to work in the midwest (probably only St. Louis at that) and in that case only over NYU. WUSTL just has too much trouble placing its grads.

An abbreviation created by TLS for 3 schools.

In this economy; CCN. Given Washington and Lee's free fall in the ranking and risky third year program I honestly don't think it is a good idea to go for the full scholarship if you've been accepted to CCN.

OP is talking about Washington and Lee in Virginia, not WUSTL in St Louis.

I meant Washington and Lee, but I think your point is even stronger in that case. lol. I know this should be easy.

wait is this another hypothetical, or did you actually get into all CCN schools? Shouldn't there be like M/V/P/B w/$$$ option?

Yes, you are correct to assume that if I were normal I would have other more practical options. I don't want to get into everything, but I'm OUT at HYS, WL at Cal Berkeley, IN at M & P, and then a few below.

I had a messed up cycle, I cannot believe I'm in at CCN (actually it's only CN, lol, but w/e). Regardless, this is my dilemma right now.

AND thanks for all the advice everyone.

I vote CCN with one caveat: what do you want to do and where do you want to do it?

I want small law, or public defender in Lexington Virginia

. . .

haha, I have no idea. Honestly, no location preference or interest in any one practice area.

Eh. To quote my uncle "Anything more than 50 miles away from a coast isn't civilization." Go to CCN, enjoy civilization and bust your ass.

EDIT: If the C is Chicago and not Columbia, I'm willing to count a great lake as a coast for the sake of argument.

I go to a W&L-ish school and am a huge advocate of sacrificing rankings prestige to lower your debt-load. That said, the difference here is just too big. Even if it was Cornell or GULC vs. W&L I'd be inclined to tell you to take the money, but the biglaw, clerkship and especially academia opportunities you'll see from CCN just won't be open to you coming out of W&L.

Suck it up and take out the loans, and congrats on getting into a great law school.

do you have connections in the legal world after grad? have you met faculty you like at any of these schools? do you like the people at a particular school? could you stomach living in lexington for 3 years? it should be about more than the bottom line. i don't feel qualified to vote on this.

i am going to a t-25 for free. i have contacts in the industry whose advice and assistance i may seek after grad. the faculty at my school are awesome and have treated me (even this summer) like i matter.

maybe you have better career prospects on the whole after going to one of these top flight schools. and maybe with lrap, ibr, and all that good stuff, the debt load really isn't as terrifying as i felt it was. do what's right by you.

I'd say stick with what you have if it was a just mere few spots jump in ranking, but you are talking about being accepted in top ranked schools - go for it! Sounds like you aren't sure yet where you want to end up so CCN will give you must better options to go wherever you want to later. No brainer.
