I wouldn't put too much stock in school self-reported statistics if I were you.crazyeddie wrote:26% is just the NLJ 250 placement, correct? Based on the interview with Dean Pless on this website, I was thinking that there are some $100k jobs with firms outside of the NLJ 250. Although this was all pre-ITE...I am wondering how accurate this is (was)...rad law wrote:26% of 2009 grads (2007 OCI, pre ITE) landed NLJ250. The number is much, much lower now, but no one really knows.
"For the Class of 2007:
97.3% Employed, 73% private, 27% public (11% clerkships)
The remaining 2.7% are people that failed the bar and were waiting for the results from the February test.
Of those in private practice: 50% at large firms (defined as median salary of 160K) 30% at mid-size firms (defined as median salary of 125K) 20% at small firms (defined as salary below 100K)" - Dean Pless
Just word of mouth, but not even 10% and law review was safe. Top 20% to have a shot, but only about 10% got a big law gig.crazyeddie wrote:Aberzombie1892 wrote:
EDIT: I thought when you said "Going to Illinois," you meant U of IL.
I did mean U of IL.
Does anyone have information on what OCI was like last year at IL?
I would agree with this. The same can be said of T14'ers who struck out last year (hence why you hear stories of those on LR striking out at OCI); at least from anecdotal evidence that I've heard.NayBoer wrote:I think a lot of "not even top 5% + LR is safe" stories from UIUC, ND, wherever, are polluted by bad interviewees getting top grades (and grading onto LR). I suspect that in this market firms are being pickier about good interviews.
The problem for 0Ls and 1Ls judging their prospects is that most bad interviews probably don't realize they are bad interviews.
